High schools and middle schools have used Slow Way Home in the classroom or featured it as part of summer reading programs. Dr. Milinda Stephenson of Panama City, Florida, developed an eight week lesson plan to increase student writing standards through the common core curriculum. The plans have been used successfully to increase writing scores in Bay County, Florida.
Dr. Stephenson’s lesson plans are available for all teachers and can be downloaded for use in the classroom. To review the complimentary plans, please click the button below:Lesson Plans
"Through characters that embody the South, Slow Way Home explores difficult questions that can arise in the lives of young people and adults. Mr. Morris met with the students in our district and immediately established a rapport. It was a very exciting visit for both teachers and students alike!"---
